MailTones - Pager Alerts for Email and Gmail App Reviews

Awful. I need to forward emails to them before I see them??? Complete lack of privacy.

At first I was a little hesitant about forwarding any emails to the developer until I realized I could use a throw away gmail address and set up my mail client to forward emails with sensitive content redacted. Furthermore, the reason we have to forward emails to the developer at all is because we have to play within Apples walled gardens. That being said, this app works as advertised and serves an important purpose.

This app is a piece of CRAP

Was really excited, thought Id have the flexibility I used to have on my blackberry to know which E-mail address and contacts were messaging me. Unfortunately I feel I wasted my money on this app, completely useless. The instructions are semi-clear it looks liike you can set up everything through the app, but no you have to go into your individual E-mail accounts to set up the forwarding. I spent several hours before I figured this out, and the support page was not any more clear than the help section on the app. In the end, it hasnt work as I was led to believe it would. If I could have given 0 stars, I would have.

It does what I needed it to.

MailTones is absolutely great. Push email is truly lacking in IOS. MailTones provides instant notification of incoming email messages. Very configurable. Couldnt live without it! Electric Pocket - keep up the great work!

I use this for fd paging alerts. Works on both iPhone and iPad.

This is working great on my iPhone 4. Really shame it is so many moving parts, but it really works fine.

I am generally very happy with this app and its features. I would give it five stars, but I have reduced my rating by one star because one important feature (for me) does not work, and I have reduced it by another star because I have not received a response to the email I sent to the designated Electric Pocket email address regarding my problem. I have an iPhone 5. I always receive the alerts quickly and correctly -- except I do not receive subsequent "repeat" alerts for cases where I have activated the repeat option. I leave my iPhone untouched after the initial alert, but the subsequent alerts that should come at 5 minute intervals never arrive. This is disappointing.

It constantly alerts me when I open other apps, I have reloaded it several times and since Apple came out with VIP ALERTS I have removed it from my phone. It is too quirky and unreliable, too bad I cant get my money back :((

I try for several hours to get this app to work. I even communicated with the developer and they try to help, but it useless. I really too much time and my money wish I wont be able to get a refund. Good luck!

I wrote and asked for a refund only to be complexly ignored. The software requires that a copy of your emails be forwarded to this company in order to work. Due to security reason I cannot allow this so the software is useless to me.

Perfect for our paging and alert system. Never had an issue with reliability.

This app used to work great, but I guess their servers are overwhelmed without enough new revenue to upgrade. So, who is screwed? You are if you pay for this app!

The program does work and I loved it for a while. But lately it will alert me 3,4, maybe 8 times for a single email. That needs a fix.

I would give this 0 stars if the option were available. Buyer beware: youll have to forward a COPY of your emails to this company for the app to work. This is not stated on the product description and is a completely unacceptable breach of your privacy (and surely a direct violation of any corporate email acceptable use policy). Given the lack of ANY forewarning of the egregious release of privacy rights required to make this product work, I will be requesting a full refund from Apple and strongly urge that you do the same if youve fallen victim to this scam of conscious omission.

Great way to get email alerts

They need to provide a code for this app to work. Left emails vms messages and nothing. Lazy horrible. Complete waste of money and time.

I was grateful to have Iain Barclay help me out. I could NOT figure out the app and was ready to delete. After an amazing proof of customer service, the app is now working perfectly on my iphone. I can distinguish MANY different email alerts for work. I even set up the "wah" for my wife! :) This is truly a fantastic app, especially being in the data center industry. Thank you SO MUCH Iain for your outstanding support. It goes a long way!!!

I really want to love MailTones. I switched to it after PushMail was discontinued (which worked flawlessly). Everything is good with this app except for the alerts are VERY unreliable. Sometimes you get them, sometimes you dont. I dont believe this is an Apple issue as I get proper push alerts from similar programs without any problem. If the reliability was improved Id rate this a five star app. While Im griping, it would be very nice to be able to import your own custom alert sounds via iTunes File Sharing.
